Cherry MX Clear

Manufacturer: Cherry
Brand: Cherry MX

The Cherry MX Clear, coming out in 1988 as one of the original cherry mx switches is a medium-heavy tactile switch with a much more noticeable tactile bump then the MX Browns. They are also quite scratchy stock/unlubed.

"The Cherry MX Clear is a medium weighted tactile switch originally introduced in 1988 making it 6 years older than the Cherry MX Brown, its lighter, less tactile counterpart." - KeebWorks.

There are 3 variations of this switch:

Like other retooled cherry switches, this was made as an alternative to the vintage mold. These are more scratchy then both hyperglides, and vintages in some cases.

instead of the full cherry nylon housings, these feature a PA66 bottom and transparent Polycarbonate top to let those gamer RGB rays shine through.

Tactile
Switch Type icon
Tactile switches have a satisfying tactile "bump" when the switch is activated, providing a little resistance at the start of the press.

normal
Standard switch with no dampers, can be further silenced with lubrication or O-rings.
Notes

Cherry MX Clears: like other tactile cherries, the tactile bump and sliders create friction and noise, so unless you lube them there will be a scratchy noise. They can be described as a slightly noisier version of cherry MX browns because you have to press harder.

Factory lubed? No
Notes

Lube the friction points, and when you come to the sliders and legs you come to a predictiment; lube the legs and sliders and lose tactility, but gain a sound upgrade, or you can leave them unlubed and they will be tactile, but scratchy.
